Money:

You really don’t need to be a member of a gym to drop fat, sculpt or build muscle. You can use your body weight or invest in a set of weights and train from home. The total cost of this is much cheaper than a gym membership.

Energy:

This is a tough one because a lack of energy doesn’t make you want to exercise however, a study by the University of Georgia found that “regular exercise plays a significant role in increasing energy levels and reducing fatigue”.

Confidence:

A lack of confidence in the culture of a gym can feel soul destroying. The world of gyms and Instagram are full of people who come across as unwelcoming and unfriendly. The reality is they’re probably really nice people but give off the wrong impression. If this is the case for you then you can get fit from home. You can learn lifting techniques from the comfort of your own living room and put it into practice into the gym when you feel ready.

Lack of structure: Having a set training routine gives you a starting point. You know exactly what you’re doing in each training session which saves your cognitive band width. Without 3-4 planned sessions, knowing what to do when you exercise can feel like a minefield. A training programme ensures your body makes progress which means your best efforts are never in vain.

As the quote goes “a comfort zone is a beautiful place, but nothing ever grows there”. Exercise is not only good for your exterior shell but can be life saving internally.
