Broken Metabolism

When anyone refers to a broken metabolism there are few key questions that come with it.

    1. Do you ever drop chocolate truffles from an extended arm into your mouth?
    2. Do you claim calories don’t count if they are eaten quickly?
    3. Or regularly take chocolate to the toilet for some one to one secret action?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you’re fine you tinker!

Diet Confusion

All jokes aside, do you ever find yourself:

  • Constantly confused about dieting?
  • Growing to accept low vitality as the norm?
  • Reinforcing a poor relationship with the one thing that keeps us alive, food?

If so, this blog is for you.

It should be noted that your metabolism can slow down by 15-20%, however, it is the change to key hormones, leptin and ghrelin, that make long term adherence feel impossible. When this happens you may never feel satisfied after eating and may be overly food obsessed when not eating.

This often occurs from having ineffective methods and/or chronically yo-yo dieting. Thus, if you eat drastically low calories it can set these alarms off which results in self preservation mode and a huge test to anyone’s will power.

How do I fix a broken metabolism?

Consuming maintenance calories for 4-6 weeks may resolve the issue. Consequently, it can take longer if you have dieted for long periods of time or have hit very low body fat levels. For this reason, you may need up to 6 months if you have caused long term damage.

The good news is that your metabolism will get very fast therefore you won’t gain weight easily and you will be primed for weight loss in the future! This will allow you to easily burn fat for longer periods of time, for instance. Though make sure that you do it right this time!
